Do you look forward to going home? Does ‘home’ feel comfortable, warm and inviting? I’ve learned that the more that home feels like a ‘soft landing’, the better off you’ll be. Here’s why… No matter what happens during the day, no matter how challenging or difficult, how exhausting or biting, it will always be simply a matter of hours until you return to your soft landing. Knowing you have a soft landing waiting helps you get through almost anything that life throws your way!First, it’s important to define what specifically makes your home a ‘soft landing’. There are a number of important components and they vary from person to person. The most important and universal element of a soft landing is that you really like/ love your roommate (spouse, significant other, partner, or simply friend). Is this person somebody you really get along with well and look forward to seeing? Regardless of where you live and the quality of your home, your housemate can make or break the soft landing. (Note: a loving pet can easily substitute for a human roommate – and, in some cases, may be a better option!) Secondly, your place needs to be comfortable, safe and secure. You need to feel that when you close the door of your home, you are protected and insulated from all the rigors of the day. When you sit down on your favorite comfy chair or sofa (make sure you have one of these), you can breathe a sigh of relief that you’re home.
Do you have a soft landing waiting for you at the end of the day? I hope so. If not, what do you need to do to get one? It’s smarter to have this sooner!
